Job Opportunity: Programme Facilitator for Young Community Leaders

Northside Partnership and Kilmore West Youth Project seek expressions of interest for the role of Programme Facilitator with Young Community Leaders.

Background

Since its establishment by Northside Partnership in 2011, the Young Community Leaders (YCL) programme has been completed by over 250 young people in the local community for between the ages of 16-25 and from the Northside Partnership catchment area.

Purpose

This proposal seeks expressions of interest from experienced and enthusiastic facilitators to work in collaboration with Northside Partnership and Kilmore West Youth Project and co-facilitators to plan and deliver the main content of the YCL programme.

The person

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a minimum of one year’s experience facilitating a youth programme
  • Have leadership experience in the areas of professional, academic and/or community life
  • Experience of managing group dynamics.
  • Work independently, with initiative and flexibility to overcome challenges.
  • High level of administrative skills and assessment skills.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for the personal development of individuals and groups e.g. growth in confidence, team building, communication skills
  • Be passionate about: community-based initiatives; making connections with local community groups; and discovering opportunities for young people to get involved and use their voice
  • Believe in youth participation and the facilitated involvement of young people in the making of decisions which affect them

 

Role

The role of Programme Facilitator will mainly involve planning and delivering workshops following the University of Galway-accredited Level 6 Foróige Leadership for life Programme and involving the following duties:

 

  • Preparation of workshops
    • The majority of workshops will be prepopulated with content provided in session plans within prescribed programme resources. The Programme Facilitator will however have scope to add or amend content to best suit the group, involve topical issues and relevant emerging areas of interests. The Programme Facilitator will also be required to attend Leadership for Life Facilitator training (online).

 

  • Delivery of workshops
    • Sessions will run on Tuesday evenings, from 6:30pm to 8.30pm
    • Programme Facilitator will be on the premises from approximately 6pm to 8.30pm to allow time for set-up/planning and evaluation/tidy-up.
    • Induction evening will be Tuesday 3rd September and the programme will run for the academic year.
    • Location: Kilmore West Youth Project, Cromcastle Road, Kilmore, Dublin 5.

 

  • Accreditation of work produced by participants for the Level 6 award (15 ECTS credits). This will take place in March 2025 and again in June 2025.

 

  • Development and mentoring of the co-facilitation team
    • The co-facilitators some of whom are past graduates of program who have maintained an interest in the project and/or pursuing a career in community development/youth work.
    • The Programme Facilitator will consult with co-facilitators ahead of each session and collaboratively decide which element(s) of the session they should take the lead on delivering.
    • The Programme Facilitator will support the co-facilitators in their facilitation skills development and collaboratively evaluate their progress throughout the year.

 

Contract details

The successful candidate will work as a contractor to the Northside Partnership and will adhere to all contractual obligations through a contractor’s agreement and will be subject to Garda vetting and reference checks.

 

It is envisaged that the time required of the contractor to fulfil this role, and the remuneration for this time, will be as follows:
