Hight Court Judge, Ms. Justice Siobhan Phelan, launches DCU Educational Disadvatage Centre Report on Community Outreach Hubs

The launch on DCU’s St. Patrick’s Campus was attended by 140 people, including representatives from local schools and community organisations, the Higher Education Authority, Academic staff, hub students from local DEIS secondary schools and DCU Institute of Education students who have gained entry to primary teaching with the support of the hubs.

ComMUniversity 2024 Open for Registration
Interested in Learning? ComMUniversity is a FREE chance to learn about interesting 3rd level subjects through informal weekly discussions. No exams, no essays. The programme is run by NUI Maynooth, Northside Partnership and Dublin City Council Library Service to offer adults the chance to try education at this level without the pressures associated with assessments. It also makes third level education more accessible by removing barriers such as transport or cost which can make it difficult for people to attend university.

Challenger 2023 Graduation

The auditorium in DCU was packed to the rafters at the Challenger 2023 Graduation ceremony. Students and their parents filled the seats to celebrate their achievements during the year on the programme which supports them to achieve academic excellence and to continue onto third level education.

Challenger Graduation 2022: In Person At Last

After 2 years of online grinds and Zoom graduations, participants in the Challenger programme were finally able to come together in person to celebrate their achievements. The Nursing Building in DCU was the venue to host over 100 participants and their families to hear presentations on the programme and witness the awards.

The evening began with an address from Nessan Vaughan, Chairman of the Northside Partnership Board in which he spoke passionately about the benefits of education.
